K2 Equestrian Center

Katherine and Childern petting Sophie | K2 Equestrain Center The K2 Equestrian Center, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, was established in the spring of 2002 by owners, Keith and Katherine Wacholz with a goal to provide equine assisted therapy to special needs children and terminally ill patients. Keith and Katherine are credentialed teachers in general and special education, with 30 years of teaching experience in the field of behavioral intervention.

They are also are trained in the Parelli Natural Horsemanship program, and are members of the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) and the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH). They believe that pairing the special needs of children with the majestic nature of the horse was a natural combination.

The ranch is a scene of tranquility…lush fields surrounded by the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho.  The Wacholz family, together with their eight quarter-horses, five burros and two therapy dogs, opened their ranch to those who may need a place to recover and grow.
